Domaine Leflaive is the most prestigious winery in Puligny-Montrachet, boasting a supreme portfolio of vineyard holdings, including five hectares of 1er Cru and 13 acres of Grand Cru. The Domaine heralds from 1717, yet the family line traces back to Joseph Leflaive (1870-1953).

2022 Here the ultrapure if decidedly inexpressive nose is quite fresh and bright with its array of Granny Smith apple, citrus zest plus a stunning array of floral and spice elements. The borderline painfully intense largebodied flavors are akin to rolling small pebbles around in the mouth before terminating in a bone-dry, youthfully austere and massively persistent finish that is Zen-like in its harmony. Not surprisingly, this is exceptionally tightly wound and a wine that's going to need every bit of 15 years to arrive at its full maturity. With that said, it is likely to be approachable after 'only' 10 or so years. This too is potentially brilliant.

This wine shows lovely, life-affirming complexity and intensity. The palate is harmonious with a killer line of acidity. It's incredibly pure, and there's a peacock's tail on the finish. The 2022 builds supremely well with each sip and conveys a sense of completeness that is just very Chevalier-Montrachet. Magnificent.
