2022 Domaine la Roubine Gigondas Grenache Syrah Mourvedre
93 Points James Suckling (December 2023)
Oodles of kirsch, violets and peppercorns, with just an edge of verdant herb, attesting to the altitude of the site and the cooler, more challenging vintage. This is still rather tightly furled and distinctly medium-bodied of feel, revealing little but puppy fat. The tenacity in the finish and energy, however, suggest that plenty is to come. From organically grown grapes.
92 Points Yohan Castaing, The Wine Advocate (October 2023)
It was a first for me, as I had never tasted wines from this estate before, and the 2022 Gigondas is a real surprise—an outstanding wine. It evokes aromas of ripe dark berries, spices, garrigue and subtle earthy undertones, with a hint of smoke and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, dense and structured without being too dense or too heavy, it's perfectly balanced with nicely ripe tannins and a well-balanced finish. This blend of 70% Grenache Noir, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and the rest of Cinsault is a great effort.
