2021 Gevrey Chambertin 1er cru "Estournelles SJ" | Domaine Humbert
There are virtually no Grand Cru and very few Premier Cru White Burgundies available in Australia or the world.
91-93 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
A moderately oaky if exceptionally fresh nose freely reveals its aromas of dark raspberry, spice and once again, cool floral wisps. I very much like the texture of the refined and intensely mineral-driven middleweight flavors that deliver fine depth and persistence on the moderately toasty finale. This is more refined than the Poissenot but less complex at present.
92-93 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate
There's only one barrel of the 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques, a medium to full-bodied, elegant, seamless wine evocative of cassis, wild berries, spices and orange rind. Given the tiny production, this review will be of largely academic interest, yet the wine stands out as a highlight of the Humbert range this year.
“Take a look at the Humbert wines: you'll thank me.”
- Allan Meadows, Burghound.com
"The strong point of the Humbert estate is once again, its remarkable series of first growths, elegant, authentic, highly recommendable. The production volumes are limited, as always with the Dugat."
- Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve
“The wines of the Humbert estate are distinguished by their elegance, their finesse and their aromatic power”.
