The Wine List & Menu TBC

2023 Frankland River Riesling, Our Price $32
Bright, fresh aromas of struck-flinty mineral notes, dried flowers and herbs, the palate flavour taut and very dry, and delicate yet intense, tinged with mandarin pith and lemongrass. A very fine, high-tension riesling that finishes bone-dry and super refreshing. (grapes from the Swinney Vineyard)

2022 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling, Our Price $35
The intensity of the Rieslings from this Porongurup vineyard is quite remarkable. I don’t think there is a more powerful and intense Riesling made in the State. The aroma has a spiciness that sits comfortably with the floral spicy lemon zip. Sustained and coiled tensile palate that extends to a brilliantly long finish.

2023 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling, Our Price $35
Now firmly established as one of a handful of Australia's greatest rieslings. This is another beautiful wine. It's slightly friendlier than the awesome '22, but lacks nothing in intensity and drive. Fine lift of wet granite, crunchy quartz and fine lemon and spicy pear on the nose. The palate is so complex and intricately woven with passionfruit, guava, green apple skin and light talcy bath salts. Fine with a precise fine acidity extending to a relentless finish.

2024 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling, Our Price $35

Hand picked, chilled, pressed to stainless steel tank, fermented using selected yeast, left on lees for 2 months and bottled. It's got flavour and character, albeit a little diffuse in personality from this warmer, earlier vintage. That being said, lovely iterations of lemon-lime citrus, green apple, a whisper of ginger, some jasmine florals and a touch of exotic green tea character in there, too. The wine shows some decent intensity of grapefruit acidity, a freshening rod through more pulpy yet pleasing fruit character. The finish offers up some floral, yeasty notes that linger into biscuity layers of flavour. Lots of easy pleasure here.
93 Points Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion (October 2024)

1st Course

2022 Margaret River Chardonnay, Our Price $45
Light-medium yellow and bright in the glass; intense grapefruit, sweet-herb and lemon-balm aromas overlaid by a nutty, peanut brittle trace from oak-maturation. The wine remains delicate, reserved and refined in the mouth, with excellent line and length. Intense, concentrated lemon/citrus fruit. An impressive young chardonnay that will certainly age superbly. A stunner.
96 Points Huon Hooke, The Real Review (August 2023)
2023 Margaret River Chardonnay, Our Price $45

Nestled in the hills of Margaret River lies Victory Point Vineyard, a dry grown 2000 planting of multiple clones of chardonnay on gravelly, sandy clay loams. Three clones were selected (Gingin, 76, 96), hand picked, whole bunch pressed cold and wild fermented in French oak barriques and hogheads (26% new). The wine was aged on lees for ten months with no stirring or malolactic fermentation before blending and bottling, with a further six months of bottle age before release. The resulting wine melds power and plushness with fine boned elegance and minerality, displaying the generosity and detail of the 2023 harvest.

2021 Magpie Hill Shiraz, Our Price $34
Ripe and generous with opulent rich fruit. It certainly is a step up from the very good Single Vineyard Shiraz loaded with ripe juicy plummy fruit underpinned by a chalky tannin precision. The sweet fruit is given a little boost with the sprinkle of spices and dried herbs, while the French oak management is right on the money. The smooth and seamless palate is a joy.
95 Points Ray Jordan, Winepilot (June 2023)
2022 Magpie Hill Shiraz, Our Price $34
Deep-ish red with a good purple tint; the bouquet spicy and cool-grown, elegant and fine, with a medium bodied palate of real elegance and style, fine texture and really refreshing acidity. A seriously lovely wine that is drinking superbly already. Not a try-hard, but beautifully balanced and stylish.

2021 Whole Bunch Shiraz, Our Price $55
This is a result of an experiment that started in 2018. It was foot stomped, and no new oak used. It’s made with a Pinot Noir approach and as a result has a lovely Pinot like weight and perfume. It’s fresh and slightly sappy with grainy tannins and a firmish core. It’s made as a delicate and aromatic expression of Shiraz, yet it has the structure to handle extended cellaring. I have to say I like the wine a lot.

2022 Whole Bunch Shiraz, Our Price $55
Produced in only used French oak barrels and made with selected, best parcels of shiraz (syrah) from the estate vineyard. This is a lighter weight and refined expression of shiraz, true to its syrah naming in fragrant perfume, silky texture, mineral-laced tannins and dashes of stemmy herbal lift and peppery spice. Gentle, red berry fruitiness is also a motif, with wet slate and game meat savouriness rolled in. It feels layered in sheets, with puckering tannin lending dryness and then a coffee ground and malt-like finish. There's decent structure here, too, with dry fruit and spice hanging off those tannin bones. An intriguing syrah emerges.

2021 Magpie Hill Reserve Cabernet, Our Price $34
From a distinct plot in Duke's estate vineyard. This has good concentration, palate-staining resonance and a general sense of high drinkability. Scents of clove and pipe tobacco over cassis and lavender, the palate more fruit driven, plummy, but with brined black olive and more clove spice in play. Sits at medium weight, cruises along gently and feels almost refreshing in a way. Elegant and understated; very good are the words.

2023 Magpie Hill Reserve Cabernet, Our Price $34
2021 The First Cabernet, Our Price $55
Deep and bright purple-red colour; a serious bouquet of cedar/cigarbox and cassis, beautifully ripe fruit and understated use of oak. The tannins are fine and persistent, the palate long. The depth of flavour is impressive, the structure serious and Bordeaux-like. No leafiness at all. This is classy cabernet.
95 Points, The Real Review
2022 The First Cabernet, Our Price $55

Deep-ish red with a tinge of purple in the meniscus; there is notable oak adding a pecan nut overtone to the elegant tobacco, cedar, kid leather and subtle cassis fruit, the middle is deliciously fruit-sweet before a cleansing, firming, fine-tannin finish that leaves an abiding feeling of harmony. Delicious wine now and appears to have a long and promising future.
