Gevrey-Chambertin:
Armand Rousseau | Bouchard | Dujac | Denis Mortet
Aurelien Verdet | Beaumont | Humbert Freres
“Gevrey-Chambertin is arguably the most classic Burgundian expression of Pinot…”
- Decanter’s Clive Coates on Gevrey Chambertin
"Rousseau is one of the small number of Burgundy estates to which I would unhesitatingly award three stars. Indeed, as far as Chambertin and Clos de Bèze are concerned, you could even argue that there is Rousseau, and then there are the rest."
- Clive Coates MW, Decanter
“The Chambertin combines power and finesse to a degree seldom seen, even in Burgundy. This is pure sophistication.”
- Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate (on the 2009 Domaine Dujac Chambertin)
This is an incredibly rare opportunity to taste across a lineup of some the most celebrated domaines including:

The Wine List (Menu TBC)
1st Bracket
2021 Aurelien Verdet Gevrey-Chambertin
This has the power and intensity you'd expect of Gevrey, with savoury tannins, plenty of depth, and also a lovely purity on the finish. An excellent village wine.
(Lay and Wheeler)
2021 Humbert Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
A moderately toasty nose combines notes of red and dark currant with those of earth and forest floor characters. The rich, delicious and intense medium-bodied flavors possess very good mid-palate concentration while display solid length on the dusty, youthfully austere and more powerful finale.
88-91 Allen Meadows, Burghound
2021 Beaumont Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
2nd Bracket
2022 Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Cinq Terroirs
No more than 30 hl/ha after the passage of the hail storm, which also meant that Arnaud had to make careful choices, not necessarily his usual ones, in selecting grapes for whole bunch vinification, just 25-30% overall, with 25% new wood. Mid purple with an elegant bouquet more raspberry than strawberry. Definitely something of a savoury character behind, but the fruit continues all around the palate. Drink from 2028-2035.
91-93 Points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (Tasted Nov 2023)
2021 Humbert Gevrey Chambertin 1er cru Le Poissenot
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Poissenot derives from the coolest premier cru in the commune, with some 80% active calcium and a mere 20 centimeters of soil. Exhibiting scents of red berries, potpourri and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, with melting tannins, tangy acids and an intensely saline finish.
91-92 Points William Kelley, The Wine Advocate (February 2023)
2020 Beaumont Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes
Expressive, structured and elegant wine with round tannins and good oak. (domaine-des-Beaumont.com)
3rd Bracket
2021 Humbert Gevrey-Chambertin 1er cru Craipillot
This is aromatically similar to the old vines cuvée but with more spice influence. The racy and more refined if not more concentrated medium weight flavors also conclude in a youthfully austere, sneaky long and slightly toasty finale.
89-91 Points - Allen Meadows, Burghound
2022 Dujac Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes
A dense purple colour. The bouquet is beautiful, very lifted, sensual with violets, as well as savoury strawberries, this is very complete with a depth of properly ripe, yet agreeably strict fruit, the stem element perfectly woven in. A really fine, poised long finish. Drink from 2032-2040.
94-97 Points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (Tasted Nov 2023)
2022 Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Ier Cru Les Champeaux
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru comes from 70- to 80-year-old vines farmed by horse and includes one-third whole bunches with the main stem removed. The bouquet is well-defined with perfumed red berry fruit, marmalade, and damp earth coming through with time in the glass. The palate is elegant and harmonious, an understated Gevrey with shimmering red fruit and plenty of mineralité on the finish. This is linear and strict yet draws you in with each sip. Superb.
92-94 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
4th Bracket
2021 Humbert Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Traditional in style, this surpasses expectations. The wood notes from the elevage mark the initial attack, but behind this, there is good ripeness to the plummy fruit, with earthy notes and hints of cedar and smoke. The tannins are firm and strict, but there is enough ripeness to draw the wine to a delightful, lingering finish. The wine was fermented as 40% whole clusters and is ageing in 100% new casks.
93 Points - Charles Curtis MW, Decanter (Burgundy, 01 Nov 2022)
2022 Armand Rousseau Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, with rose petals and light violet scents emerging in time. Very well defined and transparent. The palate is medium-bodied with a silky smooth entry. Perfectly judged acidity, harmonious, caressing towards the sweet, slightly candied finish that lingers for 30 seconds afterward. Quintessential Charmes-Chambertin.
94-96 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
2021 Bouchard Pere & Fils Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru
Not domaine, but sourced from their usual plot of 0.70ha which delivered a fairly full crop in 2021. Just 30% whole bunch vinification. Full deep red plum and peach fruit, a bouquet which might want freshening. A delicious and accurate style of Clos de Bèze on the palate, with some strawberries now at the back of the palate. Minor tannins, good persistence. Drink from 2028-2035.
97 Points - Tim Atkin
