DOMAINE Pernot Belicard
Domaine Pernot-Belicard is one of the new estates of Burgundy. Although the estate was shaped some years back when Philippe Pernot, from the Paul Pernot family, who married the daughter of the relatively unknown Belicard estate also in Puligny-Montrachet, and took over the Belicard vineyard portfolio, around 6 hectares in total.
Philippe Pernot took over the vineyards and the first vintage produced was 2009, gradually selling less and less to the négociants. In the vineyards, he cultivates the soils, de-buds aggressively and takes pains to retain his old vines in good health.
The Belicard estate mostly sold off the grapes to negociant but a quick research show that they also sold a bit under the estate label.

Clear pale colour. The energy to the fruit is impressive with some lemony aspects, and good acidity.

”Subtle creamy minerality in this wine. It has more depth than you’d expect from the appellation, which simply shows the talent of the producer. There’s a case in my cellar, which is probably more meaningful as a recommendation than 93 points. There is also a case of the 2020 beside it.

2022 Meursault 1er cru Perrieres, Indent Price $335.00
Clear pale colour. This has energy on the nose without much detail yet. Good clean fruit builds steadily, white orchard fruit, some weight. Generous and with excellent length, the white flesh keeps building, accompanied by adequate acidity.

2022 Bienvenues Batard Montrachet Grand Cru, Indent Price $1,332.00
From two plots, one at each end. Mid lemon colour with a relatively robust nose. Very good on the palate though, if more intensity at the front than the back. A little biscuit as well, enough acidity and fair length.

2022 Batard Montrachet Grand Cru, Indent Price $1,386.00
A solid, precise, vivid and succulent chardonnay with aromas of sliced apples, white peaches, warm spices and some wild herbs. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity. A juicy center palate with plenty of drive and focus. Flavorful and seductive. Drink or hold.
