Historically located in Bouzeron, Chanzy has 80 hectares of vineyards now certified High Environmental Value level 3, spread over the three Côtes Burgundy, each with an ancient history built with passion, aiming at best expressing the beautiful terroirs of our spectacular region.
Each vineyard plot is harvested, vinified, aged and bottled separately. Aging takes place in barrels which have been rigorously selected to respect the identity of each plot of vines.... this is how we transform the unique expression of each terroir.

(They are the …) Owner of … 2 monopolies, 11 grands crus and 13 premier cru (sites and the grapes …) are produced in the greatest respect of the Burgundy tradition. Chanzy also holds the sole monopoly of the appellation Bouzeron Village: the Clos de la Fortune, a jewel of the AOC of 2.97 hectares of vines.”

I have visited Chanzy four times over the past 5 years, and each time have been
astounded at the high and modern quality of both their White and Red Burgundies. On each visit, I was asked to pick up the agency for Australia, but knocked this offer back on the grounds that they were so good - and in the more reasonably priced instances, such good value - that they deserved a national distributor … and we are mere a tiny restaurant retail group in the isolated Western Australia.

have marvellous quality fruit for these appellations, are brilliantly made and are great value.

Still flying under the radar, Aurélien Verdet’s Burgundies not to be missed. The purity and personality of the Pinot Noir demonstrates just how well headapts to every vintage, reflecting the style of the season. His cellars are tucked away in the quiet village of Arcenant in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits and keeps a fairly low profile; he prefers to spend his time in his organically farmed vineyards. Father, Alain, planted the vineyards in 1971 and farmed them organically from the start, making them possibly the oldest organic vineyards in Burgundy. He has a range of excellent premiers crus, including contracts with vineyards across the Côte de Nuits. Aurélien’s wines offer refreshingly good value.

After having studied with David Duband, Aurélien Verdet decided to take over the family estate in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, and rather with some success. Inspired by the principles of organic viticulture, pioneered by his father in the 1970s, he produces high quality wines in all humility and with admirable panache. Aurélien Verdet is a vigneron who inherited from his father not only the cellar, but above all the passion for organic farming and a respectful vinification of the product. Fermentation takes hold thanks to indigenous yeasts, the use of sulphites is moderate and the aging in wood takes place in Burgundy oak barrels with wood from Tronçais and Vosges.
